DescriptionPunisher #81 Pg. 1 Title SplashArt by Hoang Nguyen Written by Steven Grant Lettering by Ken Lopez An awesome early 90s Punisher Title Splash reminiscent of the cover image to the issue, introducing the story "Bodies Of Evidence", but with even more cityscape to enjoy in the background as Frank Castle monitors police activity in the building across the street (his hideout) from a rooftop perch. Will be sharing more interior pages from this issue periodically over time, but have to start with the beginning of the story and this splash. A killer Punisher splash, indeed. I love that Nguyen utilized something of Kevin Nowlan's approach here, particularly his head. By the way, did you notice that from the neck up including the collar, the art is almost identical to that on the cover? When you stare at the cover for a few seconds and then turn it open to page one, you get a sense of deja vu. I think Nguyen was simply trying to save a bit of time by lightboxing rather than redrawing an entirely new figure. Really cool piece and I have to say that even if you never acquire the cover, I think you'll be hard pressed to acquire a more representative Punisher piece than this.

I wasn't familiar with Hoang's art till Daryl shared a page from his Punisher run a month or so ago. There was something about it I really dug but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then I saw this splash of yours and realized it's because there's shades of 90's era Jae Lee to it. This is a DOOOPPPPEEEEE splash, my friend!

I am not a huge Punisher fan, but I am a huge fan of this. This is a perfect title page for the Punisher. Love it and congrats!
