Description

The second page in the sequence, Ethan is shaded as he tries to hide his intention to be a nice guy, he just gifted Anna a 35mm print of a film she loves from her childhood that means so much to her. At the same time he passively wants her help to work a case and to make peace where their relationship is strained. Such amazing shadowing as Phillips evokes the mood and tension through his subtle artwork and Ed Brubaker's masterful dialogue.

The pencils were laid out digitally and printed in blue lines and inked by hand on a piece of approximately 11 2/3" x 16 1/2" comic art board.

He's all in shadow while she's the bright part of the story and lifeline to getting back there.
