Preliminary art for the cover of ULTIMATUM: SPIDER-MAN REQUIEM #2 (Cover A) by Stuart Immonen

I find the inscription on the top of the sketch a bit confusing. It refers to issue #2 of the mini-series but it's very similar to issue #1's cover and it doesn't have anything to do with issue #2 (in the additional images). I would like to see other prelims from this mini-series to clarify what was Marvel's decision - did they replaced the cover for issue #1 with issue #2? - and why Stuart's final cover is so different from the preliminary art.

Maybe he did multiple for issue 2 for Marvel editors to choose from before working on a finished piece. This one has a great heroic swinging pose in between the canyons of the city high rises. As customary, the Ultimate line cuts off the left and right edges, which Immonen accounts for, but the final breaks from that tradition.

Yeah, this one really seems like the piece they ultimately (so to speak) chose for issue #1 (just flipping the image). Another terrific prelim, Diogo! Congrats!
