DescriptionThe complicated on again/off again, love/hate/mentor/protege relationship between Grifter and Zealot was great fun to read in Joe Casey's WildCATS run. This page, expertly drawn by Sean Phillips, showcases that relationship perfectly! Zealot has decided that the Coda assassin cult which she founded has betrayed her ideals by taking assassin work for hire, so she takes it upon herself to exterminate them. Grifter has been trying to track Zealot's movements so that he might recruit her to join the most recent incarnation of the WildCATS team, but here she gives him a heck of a mixed message! This is great mature Image where Phillips style has the freedom to flourish and not emulate the first generation of the founders. Really nice shdaows and light with the silhouette use and half shadowed faces for a more dramatic noir feel.

WildCATS by far had the strongest cast of characters of any of the early Image team books, and Joe Casey, accompanied by great artists such as Sean Phillips, really unlocked their potential in this series. Congrats on this very strong page from their run.

Wow - that is a dynamic (and dynamite) highly stylized page. Gorgeous. I have no idea what's going on (never read WildC.A.T.S.), but this is fantastic storytelling that flies completely in the face of what comes to mind when we all think of "early Image", right? Great work by Sean Phillips, and another unearthed treasure, Doc! Congrats!
