DescriptionCover dated December 2000. Part of the “Maximum Security” crossover.Gambit’s first ongoing series was a fun book that I would pick up when I had an otherwise light comic buying week. This issue came near the end of the series, and was part of a very low stakes Marvel crossover involving aliens dumping their criminals on Earth. Yanick Paquette shows off his talent here for drawing beautiful women, and Gambit himself takes note as his ex-wife, Bella Donna, and his sister-in-law, Mercy LeBeau, feature prominently. If I made the same comment that Gambit did about the view, I’d get slapped. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful splash page :) Not surprised Gambit flinches when any of them get too close, he knows what Rogue would do to him.

Hey you gotta hand it to Yanick - he had Gambit contribute some A to the overall T&A. That's progress!

The only way that we can expand the audience is to make sure there's an A for everyone.

If they had made a Gambit movie fifty years ago (which would have been difficult since he didn't exist then), Keith Richards would have had the cool nonchalant attitude to play him.

Michael, MOST married men would get slapped if they made that comment! Only in a business/hobby dominated by males to the tune of probably 99% could scenes like this even have been allowed to happen. Not that I'M complaining about the view, mind you.....

Remy time you come around, you know I can't say no
Every time the shaft goes down, I let you take control
I can feel so delirious before my nuke explodes
And tonight viewed something wonderful
My bad Gambit leads to late night criminals
Conversations with Belladonna "ipso facto"
Swearin' this will be the last, but with Mercy Lebeau
I got nothin' left to lose, or use, or do
My bad Gambit lead to wide eyes stare T&A
And I know I'll lose control of the things that I say
Yeah, I was lookin' for a way out, now Yannick art page
Nothin' happens with them two, it's true
It's true, my bad Gambit leads to you
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
My bad Gambit leads to you
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
My bad Gambit splash on you

Love it! Although now for some reason I'm having bad flashes of Ed Sheerin convincing Kevin Feige to let him star in a Gambit musical film. Although now that I think about it . . .

I was disappointed when Skroce left the title to be honest but I have to recognize that young Paquette drew more beautiful women than Steve did.
(Another proof of the male centric audience/creative team here is that I'm not fully convinced that many women would refer to some of their own body parts as "T&A"? ^^)

Skroce did great work on the series. As for the T&A dialogue, I'm surprised that it made it past the Comics Code Authority.

Congrats, Michael. Not a fan of Gambit at all BUT it's great to see this early Paquette art, which showcases a lot of the strengths he would bring to his later projects.

Yannick does draw great women, nice to see a published page as he has moved to digital these days.

Really lovely page, Michael, with a terrific use of vertical space; all the ladders, pipes, and ledges give lots of great flow and angles (while still, um, complimenting all the curves...?). I love the reversed-out pipes and character in panel 3. A beautiful and dynamic page, Michael, that's really fun to look at! Congrats!

Yanick is the expert at drawing the ladders, pipes and ledges that drive the fanboys wild!

Splendid Gambit splash that makes the most of Gambit's love for the ladies. Beautifully drawn by the talented Yanick Paquette and inked by the artful Sean Parsons.
