Description

An image truly deserving of the greatest superhero. Such an angelic looking Superman. Compare the original to the final piece. Not sure if it was Nick or DC that punched up the saturation in the image which enhanced the glowing effect of the suspended gem.

Wow, this piece is permanently lit. If you don't frame this I can't imagine what is better on your walls.

Yes I agree Simon. I don't have alot of wall space so I am currently trying to figure out what to replace.

Derington's color blending pencil lines have an overall effect that is inspired and optimistic. There is always a glow light source that gives Derington a variety of linework to show a refined control.

If you saw this Superman descend from the sky, you'd immediately know that everything was going to be okay. Derington somehow mixes a sense of strength and innocence to create something beautiful.

This is positively spectacular, Lee. I don't know if my brain is just primed because of the inclusion (and depiction) of the crystal like that, but this channels that "Moebius energy" in all the right ways. When he pulls out the stops, Nick's colored pencil pieces are gorgeous slices of heaven (much like - but totally different than :) - Moebius' colors)... Look at the cape and chest; pretty cool, right? But now look at the hands and (especially) the face, with the musculature and lighting so subtly and expertly defined by the soft shading. Nick is an artist who knows the strength of a good strong line, for sure, but then he'll flesh out the details in pieces like this with a "soft focus" that is stylized dynamite. Gorgeous, glorious work, Lee! GREAT pick up - mega-congrats!
