Description

20”x68” (frame 24”x72”) Painted in 1954; purchased in 2014. Might be unique for Crockett as I can not find another nude that he ever did.

This painting was mentioned in a 1993 law suit alleging sexual harassment against women by the Manor Country Club in Rockville, MD. In October 1999, the Washington Post reported the Montgomery Country Examiner found basis for the allegations (https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1999/10/05/report-finds-bias-at-club/e4cc4545-3392-4930-8335-869be5deee9e/). The painting was commissioned by the Club and done by Crockett, a member of the club, when the clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1950-51 and hung in over the mantle in the Club’s lounge. Great story and a beautiful painted figure. A very nice piece of art to own and display.
