DescriptionThese early Ultimate Spider-Man pages are getting tougher and tougher to come by, so I'm thrilled to add a page with such historic significance in the life of Ultimate Peter Parker. In this issues, explosions rock the high school that Peter Parker and his fellow classmates attend, resulting in smoke and flames, as well as overhead sprinklers raining water everywhere. This creates an incredibly intense (and visually perfect) backdrop as Spider-Man confronts the Green Goblin for the very first time in the Ultimate Universe. In true fashion, Spidey attempts a clever quip as the Green Goblin, incredibly fearsome with eyes all aglow, emerges from the smoke and the rain. I love how the last three panels of Spidey bring us closer and closer to those big eyes of his. Such a beautifully drawn page by the awesome artistic team of Bagley and Thibert. Thanks for looking! Great song! And it's so funny, I had just changed the title to include the phrase "face to face."

Epic panels of the first encounter of arguably Spidey's best arch nemesis

No matter the book, run, show, or other medium, these two are tied to the hip.

The inks by Thibert are underrated as they compliment Bagley's style really well to bring a different awkward teen Spidey we hadn't seen in a very long time. Every one of these issues were the hottest thing on the market and really spoke to how audiences responded to the fresh take. It also showed how popular Spidey can be for a new generation of fans.

So good, Paul. Dark and moody. Thibert inks make it really pop!

The Catholic school system is getting soft. Sure they may have the Green Goblin but when I was a kid our halls were paroled by nunchuck wielding Sisters.

Awesome page, congrats! Loved the anticipation of the Goblin reveal and I remember being a fan of the "hall pass" quip back then too, it still holds up!

LOVE seeing these early Ultimate Spidey pages! Some of the best storytelling I've seen in comics to this day. The series I think first when I think Bagley. Great example, Paul, with the suspence of the GG arrival brewing! Congrats!

Legacy piece! It was with his Ultimate Spider-Man run that Mark really -cemented- his (well-deserved) reputation as one of the best to ever draw the character. And I'm not just talking the Ultimate Green Goblin here! :) Looking back from the final USM arc with Peter ("The Death of Spider-Man"), it's hard not to feel the added weight of the meeting here. A -beautifully- drawn (and inked!) dramatic scene from early in the run... What a score! Mega-congrats, Paul!!
