I've had this piece posted here on CAF in my Want list and had been asking collectors and creators about it for so long I had finally written it off as an impossibility. Until I received a message from fellow CAF collector Jason G tipping me off to the Heritage auction preview. Needless to say my blood pressure has been through the roof for a solid six weeks until I was finally able to lock it down in the live session. Over twenty five years of pining for this piece and now she's home. Crazy!

My friends know I'm a crazy Divine Right fan. I love the book and how it just oozes late 90's style and really feels like the final series to capture that early Image flash. Jim's art was firing on all cylinders, the story requires zero heavy lifting and it's like reading a summer popcorn action flick from beginning to end. I also have major love for Exotica and have probably made an offer to every single person on CAF who owns a page featuring her. And this cover is the only regular series cover to feature her and holy shit, it's incredible.

A big and hearty thanks to my friends and fellow CAF collectors who have reached out to me about the piece. It's proof that the CAF Want List really does work! Now I'm going to go update it with the Divine Right Collected Edition #2 cover, maybe in another 25 years I can track it down.

Congratulations! After reading this, I'm glad I didn't bid. I didn't know about your journey and I would have been just buying a cool image. I thought this was the deal of the auction.

Lee and Williams always drew the hot babes, but they fully entered into the bad girl fantasy art territory with this series following the success of Top Cow's model. This was Lee's return to an Image monthly after Heroes Reborn which had a lot of eyes on it.

Thanks for sharing the story, and really glad to hear you were able to finally get a long sought-after piece! (I had a similar experience recently with a page on my CAF want list showing up on Heritage, so it does work! sometimes...) And it's Jim Lee/Scott Williams art during their Image heyday, which is excellent. I never read Divine Right (it came out as I was starting to fall out of comics the first time), but your write-up makes me want to check it out. Huge congrats!!!

Phenomenal Divine Right cover from the legendary team of Jim Lee and Scott Williams! Everything about this cover is extraordinary, from the composition and the figurework to the incredible inking! Sincere congrats!
