A matter of Animus!
written by Len Wein

In an effort to find a cure for a boy who has no natural immunity, Ted Kord goes looking for Dr. Animus. Unfortunately for Ted, Dr. Animus does not want to be found and she has telepathic control of all the objects in her office. Now Blue Beetle is about to become the subject of her next experiment.

A cover from early in Mike Mignola's career when he was drawing in the DC house style.

Terrific. Didn't remember that Mike was doing DC covers during this time period.

Thanks for sharing

Nice to see this again.  It was floating around for a bit right after I sold it.  Then it was nowhere to be found.  I think it was probably the Giordano inks that contributed to my decision to let it go.  Which was still tough, considering it's from my favorite year of Mignola work, 1987.  Anyway, glad it found a good home.

Thanks for the info. I got in a trade with a friend  nearly 20 years ago. I never posted it before because too many people seemed interested in getting it from me at the time.

I bought it in 1988, also from a collector friend.  What makes me chuckle now is that the reason I finally decided to sell it (the Giordano inks) at the time, is what totally makes it special now.  I mean, how often do you see Mignola/Giordano art?  Plus, I love covers with heavy blacks.  So I may not have regretted it then, but I sure do now.  What's funny is that right after I sold it, I kept seeing it flipped and re-flipped for a while.  Makes me very happy to know that you've kept it for 20 years.  If only I was that smart.  LOL

What about all the times you said Gunn had the answers?

Doc Animus?
What about actor Xolo Maridueña?

Doc Animus?
What about all the films that started from Mignola?

What about love? What about trust?

Congrats! Nicely timed with the opening of the Blue Beetle movie! The cover viscerally conveys the danger Ted Kord is facing. He's about to enter hell, oh boy...by the way, who is Mignola, never heard of him... ;-)
