I feel like I'm having an out of body experience! I don't know why, but I have no recollection at all about this era! Nightwing & Flamebird vs. Metallo & Reactron? I'm familiar with the names, but none of these 4 split bodies look familiar in the least! The Kryptonian looking fella is Nightwing? I was going to explain it all away by guessing this was New 52 related (which I barely paid attention to), but I see that this predates that era. So yeah, very strange feeling, like DC did something to Rip Van Winkle me or something!
It was part of the New Krypton storyline. The Kandorians were freed from their bottle and took up residence on the Moon. Despite Superman and Supergirl demonstrating that they valued human life and upheld law and order, General Lane was convinced that the Kandorians would eventually conquer Earth, so he contrved to a plan to wipe them out. This all occured before the new 52.
