DescriptionEver since ASM vol 6 #6 (LGY #900), when Doc Ock's mechanical arms attached themselves to J. Jonah Jameson in an attempt to enlist Spidey's help, a special relationship was forged between the curmudgeonly newsman and those very same arms. So, in issue #27, when Doc Ock decides to use his new nanofluid ocktoid tentacles to destroy his old arms, they somehow find their way to the doorstep of J.J.J. here on this very poignant splash. "Zzzzt?" Awwww! Poor little tentacles! The way Ed McGuinness has managed to artistically grant such a unique and loveable personality to these mechanical arms is fun and very clever. The arms have also formed a friendship with Spidey, which has played out nicely in the recent issues ASM #29 and 30. Social/Sharing |

Sentient mechanical tentacles? Cool! He's going to need his own nickname though, maybe Tentacleez or Octobot? How about Grab-a-jaba? 😂 This is why I'm not a writer. Hopefully Spidey can give him an appropriately catchy nickname

😂 Grab-a-Jaba and Tentacleez are very good names! And funny! Thanks for the laugh.

It's turned into a lost and abused puppy. Will JJJ find it in his heart to adopt the tentacles? Will he go John Wick on Doc Ock? A cliffhanger for another time...

So fun! "Ummm...can you help me out? We go way back, right?" Crazy how McGuinness has made the tentacles their own character. Gestural figure work - not easy to in general, let alone with Ock's leave-behinds! Great piece Paul - congrats!
