DescriptionTomorrow, the last issue of the current four-issue Spidey/Doc Ock arc (ASM #30) comes out!I'm still trying to catch up with my posts of the pages from ASM #27 and #28 that I was fortunate enough to acquire. In this two-page sequence, we are introduced to a brand new, utterly high-tech set of tentacles for Doc Ock. As you can see on that second page, the arms are now composed of individual nano-fluid ocktoids that can detach and march around, going "gwarble gwarble" the whole time. They seem to have sinister eyes, green gooey arms & legs and menacing personalities. As Doc Ock says, it's "a blockchain of consciousness, each ocktoid containing a self-correcting copy of the whole, complete with my personal charms." They really are like little mini-ocks. And, since Doc Ock is so 'charming,' he immediately uses his new arms to destroy his old mechanical arms. Which is kind of sad. And making it even more poignant, as they are being ripped apart, the old mechanical arms form a heart, as if to say, "I still love you anyway." Awwww! Man oh man, can Ed McGuinness & Mark Farmer spin a great Spidey story or what?!? Social/Sharing |

Oh, man, what a cool spin on Ock's tentacles! Cool, AND fun! Got the explanation while execution -literally, execution of "broken tentacles by the new new! And McGuinness does a killer job conveying the key moment. Really nice, Paul. Congrats!

I think it's cool that the powers that be updated Ock's tenticles. Now he can be in multiple places at once really, and this two page sequence does a great job of communicating what is going on. Cool pieces!!!

Otto's behavior here makes me wonder what Aunt May ever saw in him.

I love page 13. It reminds me of fantasia with the mop buckets for some reason. I always love Ed's work. Great piece.

That's EXACTLY what I thought of too!! It also brings to mind the song "Heffalumps and Woozles" from Winnie The Pooh.

Yup, those are the Fantasia mop buckets for me, too! I do prefer the classic Doc Ock arms, but I get that they're trying to make them more like tentacles. Really great pencils and inks as usual by this art team!

Really nice layout! It's drawn like a diagram showing a step by step sequence in how the new arms come to be the dominant set!
