Prime pick up! Really happy for you!
congrats on landing this beauty. as the kid growing up the what if title grabbed my interest. It was such a cool concept and really let the writer's go to town and explore so very valid questions about a character/team that went left instead of right in their timeline. it became a must read, this is a beauty on two counts. one because it is the first issue and two it showed how different an outcome one event happened that changed more than one character's life. just a great page with the whole Fantastic four and spiderman answering that question from Spiderman #1, what if he did join the FF? just a great pageoverall and a big win for you to get this historic page.
That's the pot calling the kettle black (Ben in the last panel ;)
Sweet page!
Good looking page, Fisch!
What if stories are so nostalgic - I remember well anticipating what the next story might be. This is the one that kicked the whole thing off and an amazing get! Congrats!
A fun and historic find, sounds like it has found a good home.
Such a great piece!
Great page!!!!
A whirl for your money indeed! Congrats Fisch - I'm thrilled for you, and hopefully the joy of this page will take your mind off the Manix that I haven't shipped to you yet - mea culpa. Great page! Top Dollar!
Love that 5th panel! Nice page! Congrats.
Super cool, man, all heroes represented! Always liked that fifth panel where Reed says '"hold up" as only he can :) Hard to top if What If is your favorite book! Congrats!
Love mercenary Spidey trying to get paid! Also great seeing Spidey spinning the Invisible Woman like a top! Wondering if she did the technicolor yawn shortly afterwards...
Great pick up, Fisch!
I'm doing good, I'm on Heritage
Been saying "yes" instead of "no"
I thought I got good at cut bid stop, I didn't though
You hit the ground bidding each night
You got the Spidey fightin' page
You know the greatest teams of the five were never made
Uatu never know, never knows
What if they wanted Pete, Who really would've known
What if you never need, your Watcher gonna show
And it's alright now
But we were something, Fantastical
Craig on Spidey, Torch and Thing with Reed and Sue
What if my wishes came true
A massive issue
In my defense, I have none
For never buying well enough alone
But it would've been fun
If this would've been page one
(Ooh)
What if Fisch got another killer add? Nah, that's just regular canon.
Congrats - super memorable issue!
Those early What If issues were so good. Great stories and art! So awesome you got a page from the first issue, congrats!!!
All that work to find out the job doesn't even pay! Mwah mwah mwah mwaaaaah ... Haha! Fantastic page filled with fantastic action with the Fantastic Four ... and the Amazing Spider-Man to boot! Major congrats.
It's a dandy to add to your awesome collection Fisch, congrats !
I also have a page from What If #1. I can tell you they rarely come up for sale! Congrats on this one, it's a doozy!
Some to love in every panel!
As a kid, I loved picking up first series What If? back issues whenever I had a few extra bucks. Each issue being double-sized meant we actually got stories with some depth, and the talent working on the book was usually top notch. Getting an original page from the first issue is a huge get for any fan of the series, and this page is damn good! Big congrats!
Very cool What if? #1 page by Jim Craig and Pablo Marcos! Fun Bronze Age page filled with amusing interactions between Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four! Especially love that fifth panel with Reed Richards forming a barrier to stop the wall-crawler. And then the final two panels with Spidey explaining he actually wanted to join the FF and that he deserved a top salary--That's hilarious! Great pick-up!
I swear this has the best lines. You animated insect! We're a nonprofit. And Wonder Woman twirling is adorable.
maan im sorry you didn't land the cover, not surprised it went gangbusters but this is an awesome page. love that final panel even without Spidey in it they look awesome there plus Spidey looks great in the adjacent panel. awesome addition man
