11x17 bristol board, inks on printed bluelines

Teenage Scott Summers starts to realize he's capable of making a difference, like a flash of light in the dark. He's not quite Cyclops yet but he's getting there.

Tom Reilly captures a blend of somber moodiness and newfound determination so well on this page. He gets a good range of emotion out of a character who generally can't express a lot of emotion due to his face being covered and, well, this is also a character who would prefer fighting a Sentinel over having to ever talk about his feelings. If any of that was a challenge for Reilly, I'd never know it because this page is fantastic.

Also the “it feels like coming up out of the dark” line in the last panel always gets me a little whenever I read it. This comic book rules and you should go read it if you haven't already!
