DescriptionIt is hard to believe that this miniseries is now more than two decades old. It is even harder to believe that such a talented artist as Tim Sale left us so suddenly and so early. Although I never had the opportunity to meet him in person, I have heard nothing but good things about him. His talent was also obvious and there for all to see.And his work on this Daredevil miniseries was wonderful. Whilst retelling the early days of DD, he did not lose the familiarity and nostalgia that some of us originally encountered but simultaneously executed it in such a fresh as well as inimitable style. I was drawn to this page as I recalled first seeing a similar scene in Daredevil #1 itself. Whilst it would be thrilling to have a page from the very first issue of DD (and I am privileged in this respect to have somehow gotten a page or two), it is just as exciting, in my view, to obtain a page such as this - which, as I have already mentioned, retells the same story, albeit differently and in an equally impactful way. I know it looks like he's doing well now but once Hogan taps in it's all over.
When it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside.
You gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide.
Well, you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide.
I am a real American.
Fight for the rights of every man.
I am a real American.
fight for what's right, fight for your life!

Many thanks, John! I am not a wrestling fan but I'm assuming from the lyrics that Hulk Hogan used it.

A truly splendic and spectacular page and as you say, very complimentary since you also have the page from Daredevil #1. Many congratulations!

Many thanks, Rubén! The exact page from the original issue is with someone else. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, this particular page is a reinterpretation of part of a page from the original issue.

A lot more brute force than what Everett did with more in your face action. It's through Loeb and Sale's lens that incorporates the history of what has happened since with tone and style that DD has evolved into.

Many thanks, Marcus! Yes, the original one was a little more subtle in its portrayal of force although perhaps this possibly also reflects the times in which we live.

Many thanks, Kasra! It's rare indeed that a book that recounts an already classic book can itself become a classic. This truly bears testimony to the highest quality of Tim Sale's artwork. May he rest in peace.

A really great page. The arm coming in on the first panel as the only part of DD seen feels like a classic Saleism. That second panel is so dynamic and the perspective and motion used seem effortless but belie a lifetime of training and artistry. Perfect last panel, this page stands on its own so very well without needing to be seen in the broader context of the story. Great choices as always.
