Mercurio Loi is a fictional character created by Alessandro Bilotta.

He's a university professor who, assisted by the young Ottone, investigates the mysteries of papal Rome in 1826. His daily stroll through the streets of the eternal city will lead him to confront bizarre characters, inexplicable events, secret sects, and conspirators against the monarchy papal.

The first story titled "Mercurio Loi" appeared as a one-shot in Bonelli's series "Le Storie", but then got his series (ended with #16).

In just one season, the series won all the Italian sector awards: U Giancu, Micheluzzi, ANAFI, Boscarato, Gran Guinigi, and Romics d'Oro. A pretty much unique case in the history of Italian comics.

This is page 70 from issue #6, "A passeggio per Roma" which sees both Mercurio and Ottone out for a walk in Rome (as the issue's title suggests).
