Description

The idea for this bizarre series of illustrations comes from the amazing Donald Duck homage Alberto drew for me to celebrate the 85th birthday of the character, D-Zilla, where our Donald got someway blended with Godzilla, a fictional monster, or kaiju, originating from a series of Japanese films.

So here's the fifth piece of a series where Alberto will put in the blender Donald Duck and fictional characters from Japan, D-Rlock.

The reference character here is Captain Harlock, a fictional character protagonist of the Space Pirate Captain Harlock manga series created by Leiji Matsumoto.

Set in the year 2977 AD, where humanity has achieved a vast starfaring civilization, but is succumbing to boredom, often due to defeat and subjugation by a foreign invader. Rising against the general apathy, Harlock denies defeat and leads an outlaw crew aboard his starship Arcadia to undertake daring raids against Earth's oppressors (like the Mazone, a race of organic plant-based alien women who explored Earth in the mythic past and are now back to reclaim it).

Alberto's piece shows a majestic Donald/Harlock shot from below, surrounded by space.
