Awesome Batman panel page by Joelle Jones! I love the checkerboard format she used here. It allows us to silently observe the conversation between Bruse Wayne and Selina Kyle. Joelle does such a terrific job with the facial expressions that you almost don't need the word balloons to know what they're saying--The tension between them is palpable. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!

Alternating headshots for a nice pattern shoing how intertwined they are.

So striking for just talking heads. More interest in it than I see in some plash pages. I envy.

Hard to make a talking heads page interesting, doubly so when said page has nine panles but Joelle does it here and makes it look easy.

Here's the story

Of a lovely lady

Who was living with two personalities

Both of them had nine lives, altogether

Yet they were both alone

Here's the story

Of a man named Batman

Who was busy, with two lives of his own

They were two men, sharing one life

Yet they were all alone

Til the one day

When the lady met this fellow

And they that knew that it was much more than a hunch

That these four minds, must somehow form a twosome

That's the way they became the Cats-Bats bunch!

Best I could do on 4 hours sleep, but I do really like this page.

This is great! I wonder if it was influenced by the photobooth strips, the way they're claustrophobically framed and their head positions and expressions change from frame to frame. The spotting of blacks and the expressiveness of the faces really makes this pop. I even like that there are no word ballons. It's like watching a couple in an intense conversation but they're just out of earshot. Superb!
