DescriptionA longtime collecting goal has been achieved thanks to my friend, Michael Lovitz! Just acquired a beautiful Don Newton/ Alfredo Alcala Batman page featuring Batman, Dick Grayson, Alfred and the Batcave. And it is signed by Don!! I have several Newton Batman pages but have always wanted some art by the Newton/ Alcala team. To say I am ecstatic is an understatement!Social/Sharing |

What a great find, Steve. As a kid, I was not a Don Newton fan, but that changed as I got older. Now he"s a hole in my collection I very much want to fill. And Alcala inks... Wow!

Congrats, Steve! While I've always enjoyed Newton's work, this era of Batman stories was made great due to the lush, atmospheric inking of Alcala. The art looks consisten no matter who the penciller was. So good!

Newton / Alcala is the perfect integration of styles. The way Alcala achieves a texture with the 'scumbling' of his not-quite-all-black backgrounds and the lush swoop of his brush strokes serve to show off Newton's pencils to perfection!
