Description
...killed himself a Bar when he was only three; Davy, Davy Crockett, Ki... Oops, wrong story...

Journey recounts the adventures of Joshua Wolverine MacAlistaire. And like Natty Bumppo before him, he comes from the grand line of fictional 19th-century American frontiersmen. Journey debuted as a back-up feature in Cerebus but soon graduated to a solo title published by Aardvark-Vanaheim in March 0f 1983. From the very first issue, creator Messner-Loebs shows us the disparity of life on the frontier, facing down a bear one moment and dealing with some trappers the next. The storytelling and art was stunning and greatly benefitted from the stark black and white images.

Messner-Loebs' art is a treat as it became more rare since his writing career took off in the 90's for DC.  This is one of his celebrated indie creations and looks even more detailed than some of the pubished stuff  in Journey.

Just stunning! William Messner-Loebs' artwork was peerless in the 1980s.
