Description
A “Young Gun” for Marvel in the mid-1980s, even contributing to the company’s flagship titles, couldn’t keep Paul Chadwick from greater things. What? Greater things than the X-Men franchises? Indeed! Leaving the House of Ideas to write and draw Concrete over at Dark Horse Comics assured Paul of his place in the Comic Book Hall of Fame! Despite a Sci-Fi origin story, the series eschewed that genre in favour of stories that were smaller in scale, brimming with very human curiosity, and very heartfelt.

During the course of the book’s run, Paul had the three protagonists: Ron Lithgow, Concrete; his assistant, Larry Munro; and Dr Maureen Vonnegut, his caregiver, deal with issues that were important to the author. We see each character grow from their experiences and form bonds between them. I asked Paul for a piece that would allow Ron and Maureen to interact with each other. And this was the result.

He's as big and beloved as Holdor!  Chadwick sure gets a lot out of the limited amount of lines he can use on Concrete to make him a gentle giant.
