Great cover!
Wow Bill, leave it to you to post one of my VERY favorite FF covers. I loved the whole Psycho Man/Microverse/Sue/Malice storyline, and this cover always sticks out in my mind as one of the most visually arresting images from the entire Byrne FF run. Fantastic get!
Bill J update...is he finally going to post a crappy piece of art?! Nope, another banger!
Terrific perspective & expertly rendered!
I love JB FF and you got an awesome cover from his run. Great story line as well...congrats
Fantastic piece - Congratulation !!!
I love this cover so much. Maybe this is the reason why it pains me as much to see the price tag jumping every time the piece switches hands 🙃. Big congrats as kuddos are in order here, the composition on this one is just mesmerizing (and Psycho-Man truly makes a killer baddie!).
Byrne is the best. Love Sue on here - but didn't Reed's mom ever tell him it wasn't polite to put his hands in someone else's mouth! Congrats Bill!!
I'm not a big Byrne fan, but this is an exception. Very dramatic cover, and, as you say really killer Ordway inks.
John Byrne never disappoints on his epic FF run! Classic villian cover!
Oh my god. Great cover of FF. Great saga
So damn good. Congrats Bill. I love this cover!
Congrats on an absolute dream cover.
WOW!!---VERY DRAMATIC!!
Great cover. Love the perspective Byrne used here. Congrats on adding another Byrne cover to your collection
Great stuff.
Pretty darn nice Bill,another winner,congrats !
Vintage goodness!
Wow. Psycho man in all his glory! Byrne in all his glory! Congrats!!
Fantastic Cover Bill! Congrats
The dramatic angle really grabs your attention! Amazing cover by an amazing artistic duo. What an addition! Simply stunning!
Just WOW! I too would be delighted to add this to the collection. Congrats!!!
You can't own this. You are not called Rick Lol.
Wow!
Another masterpiece !
Woww wonderful Cover, great congratulations Bill
Ordway's inks compliment the Byrne pencils very well and give Psycho Man as much menace as any of the FF's greatest foes. Speaking of greatest, this is definitley one of Byrne's and the FF's.
I think reactions were mixed when Gordon joined the book towards the end of Byrne's run. Personally, I really enjoyed Al's inking and loved what he did with John's pencils. So much so that I followed him even after he left Marvel to work on (the then scorching hot) Justice League with Kevin Maguire. I still remember finding out that Gordon lived in SF (right across the bridge from me) and I went with a buddy to visit him and try to get our hands on some JLA pages. Anyway, loved Al's short stint on FF. Especially any of the She-Hulk issues. This is a fantastic example of his collaboration with Byrne. Congrats buddy! Watching your gallery is like going on safari with a big game hunter in Africa, except for the whole guns and killing thing. Already excited to see what you take down next bwana.
Incredible perspective and sense of foreboding + imminent doom. Another magnificent get!
Fantastic cover Bill! Congrats!!
Dang, that's an awesome Byrne F4 cover, congrats!!!!
Damn...not surprised at all, but damn. That's just fantastic, Bill...and I'm not even trying to be punny!
So this the guy responsible for the Malice outfit. I only have one thing to say about this. Mah man. 🙌
Whoa, one of my favorite Byrne FF covers (and that's saying a lot!), much to do with the badass Kirby designed Psycho-Man, big congrats!!
Wow! Wondered who picked this up. It's a beauty - well done!!
A stunningly beautiful cover from what is to me, the best drawn portion of his entire run. While I'm usually a believer the artists never look better than when they ink themselves, Byrne falls into the category of "exception", as I feel that Austin on X-Men and then Al Gordon and Jerry Ordway on Fantastic Four all combine with Byrne to form a far prettier aesthetic. I still have a vivid memory of picking this issue up off the stands brand new at the comic shop on the day it came out. A real stunner, Bill, and a perfect fit for your collection.
Wow! Byrne FF! This is as good as they come!
Fantastic cover! Love the layout and seeing the FF battling a giant foe is always a good design. Congrats!
Always dug the Psycho-Man and his tablet. Is it a tablet? In any case, you know what I'm talking about! Few can provide such captivating covers as Mr. Byrne and this is a great examle! The baddie definitely with the upper hand, large and in charge, imposing, enhanced by the downward perspective. Will the FF bounce back?! Let's pick up the book and find out. I mean, this cover's not giving you any choice! Congrats!
This Psycho-Man cover compares favorably to the character's first appearance on the cover of FF Annual #5. I think Ordway is the unsung hero here, though. He really rejuvenated Byrne's pencils with his finishes over him when Byrne was already half-way out the door at Marvel and concluding his FF run.
Colossal cover!!! To me the i ks on this artwork shine with theirvown light! I find it extraordinary! Superb addition.
That's a cover that makes you want to buy multiple copies! Congrats!!
Another amazing acquisition to your Fantastic collection! Major congrats; love the angle of this piece!
I was the under bidder on this one. Huge congrats. Love this cover.
Well done and many congrats, Bill! This is an awesome cover - and with an excellent write-up to accompany it as well!
Man everyone already talked up the cool perspective, now I can only comment on the violently enforced Thigh Gap of Susan Richards and my fondness for the discount Pyscho-Man Toy Biz action figure at KayBee Toys back in the day, where his figure stand would also cycle through the various negative emotions (FEAR! DOUBT! HATE!) he would inflict upon his enemies!
Psyco-Man on the cover? Yes, please! Don't fear it, don't hate it and don't doubt it!
Sockamagee!
Byrne's Kirby-esque cover design is topnotch, but Ordway's inks are the star here, to my eyes. I got to discuss technique with Jerry Ordway some years back as he signed a Byrne/Ordway microverse page I've had for three+ decades... real nice guy, and an extraordinary draftsman. Congrats on a killer example!
That really stands out as an awesome cover! Love the depth and how the characters are intertwined through it.
I always thought Byrne made a big mistake not teaming up with Ordway.
Such a dramatic image of Psycho Man holding off the FF (or three of them). And Byrne does such a great job conveying the sense of scale of the FF against the giant Psycho Man, especially with the downward camera angle. Byrne's FF run was before my time on the series, but I do like the art I've seen from it, and this cover is a great example from that era. Huge congrats!
I'm going to politely disagree with most who are gushing about Ordway inks over Byrne, but this cover is an exception--it's fantatsitc.
Your updates NEVER disappoint!!
Such a powerful cover. I'm all about the villains and this is a beauty
Psycho Man! One of my favorite Kirby baddie designs. And this cover? Magnificent. I am fan of Byrne inking himself, but Gordon (much like Austin) really brought some artistic OOMPH to something that was already amazing. What a score! Psycho, man!
I haven't read this one but now that I've seen the cover, I'll put it on my short list!
Holy cow! I remember when this book came out - loved the cover then, and I love it now. Big congrats on adding another masterpiece to your amazing collection.
Bill. Wow. This cover. Psycho-Man triumphant. And Sue Storm doesn't seem to mind at all. You get yours, Invisible Girl!
Just a great Lee and Kirby... oh, wait! It's a Byrne cover! Putting his feet in the steps of the founding fathers of the Marvel Age was certainly a wise move... and it resulted in some of the most enjoyable stories and art since the Silver Age! Great great pick!
Stellar addition Bill, huge congrats!!
That's a win! Congrats
Wow!!! Magnificent cover.
Wowza talk about great shots of everyone! Must have gone "Psycho" when you got this one.
Amazing cover from a classic run! Congrats, Bill!
You'd better act quickly with a villain like Psycho Man on the loose with nothing to lose. I love the classic Byrne feel here and the super stretchy Mr Fantastic!
Excellent cover Bill!!!!
Simply awesome cover - you just can't go wrong with Byrne. However, the angle here is the chef's kiss elevates this even further. Congrats!
Amazing, Beautiful !!!
Great Cover!
Pure power and menace! Marvel's First Family surely seems defeated, but Bill's gallery goes from strength to strength! Amazing additon!
Epic cover from a memorable run, congrats!
Imposing!!! A formidddable foe indeed. Incredible cover for your epic collection!! Congrats.
An absolutely stunning Fantstic Four cover featuring John Byrne at his considerable peak. Jerry Ordway was one of Byrne's best inkers and this piece shows why. What an amazing cover to own. Big congratulations!
What a banger! Your collection always makes me want to get into more 80s stuff haha
Fantastic and superclean F4 Byrne cover Bill !!! Score !
Great cover from Byrne's epic run! Congrats!
Wonderful cover as usual, Bill. Congrats!
To quote an American psyco...."Impressive, very nice"
a terrific cover!
This is one of those 80s cover that is permanently burned into my brain. Love it!
A John Byrne cover - dare I say it?!?
Fantastic!
Ho-leeeeeey moley! I remember back in the day I wasn't too thrilled about the clean lines of Ordway's inking over Byrne (I always liked Byrne with a bit of grit!) but looking at this now, I'm delighted to admit my mistake (or, to sand off the edge there, acknowledge my "growth"...? lol :) ). A wonderful, classic Byrne FF cover, and Ordway adds great balance and weight to the image by leaving the backgrounds light so the players pop out beautifully. Fantastic pick up, Bill! Awesome!
I turned 20 in 1985, and I thought comics were more than 65 cents by that time. Wow. I SO much loved John Byrne's FF run. Ordway was a great inker for him.
