Description

"IT'S WHANGIN' TIME!"

Rek-Rap trades some hilarious quips with Kraken the Hunter and then frees himself, claiming he has the strength of 13 tunas! (It makes sense when you read the dialogue ... sort of).

OH! And when I posted the previous splash page (pg 3) where Kraken has Rek-Rap trapped in a net, Marcus pointed out that it was a homage to Amazing Spider-Man #15 where KRAVEN did the same thing to Spidey. I should have made the connection, especially cuz Kraken exclaimed that "like our counterparts, I will MARRY you alive!" Which leads to Rek-Rap correcting him at the top of this page, and so on & so forth with the funny.

ANYWAY ...

I love the perspective on this one as the action takes place on a Ferris Wheel high above the ground.

My story is much Rek-Rap to be told
But practically everything leaves Rek's enemies cold
The only art Kraken I know is this case
When I'm out on a ferris wheel
Whanging vainly so splendidly
And I suddenly turn and see Ed McGuinness' face

I get a kick in the brain
He's from limbo doesn't thrill me at all
Zeb Wells me why Mark's inks be true
That I Rek Rap kick tuna you

That bottom panel has Rek-Rap doing the ol' Hank McCoy gymnastics "flip-kick" better than even The Beast himself ever did it! Excellent art by McGuinness!

Looks like Rek-Rap's got a nice big smile in anticipation of giving the Kraken the BOOT!  Or boots.  I can picture Kraken yelling "I SHALL Retuuurrrrrnnn..." getting fainter and echoier (not a word?  IDK, you get it!) the further he goes, lol.  Congrats!

Hahaha!  That's perfect!  I can imagine exactly that scenario ... as Kraken's yell grows fainter and, yes, echoier.  (Autocorrect had no problem with that word, so it must be legit).  Interestingly, the character of Kraken the Hunter was the result of a "Kraven" typo in the past.  Isn't that great?

Great example of why the term "happy accident" exists :)

And he got the ball all the way down to the 5 yard line! Looks like that aquatic baddie is going for a refreshing swim. Probably for the best. Heh, great page: I especially like the inked batty flying off. You are the Rek Rap master now. The character market has been cornered!
