This is a nice example of how good a penciller Merino is, in spite of having been used primarily as an inker throughout a large portion of his career, most well known for his inking over fellow Spaniard, the late Carlos Pacheco.

Figurework for the foreshortening and expressiveness of the hands reaching with their arm strokes by Merino is great! His shading is fully worked into this prelim for emotional content ready for the final step to take place.
