DescriptionI should stress that I am not a Donald Trump fan! This is page 22 from a 2016 comic about Donald Trump's climb to power, as viewed from the perspective of an 'average Joe' increasingly drawn to Trump's politics. I think it was written just before Trump got elected in 2016. This is the second to last page and looks to be a kind of 'resolution page'. After being helped out by a protester, and some implied intimacy with her, the average Joe character is back home and reunited with his family. He switches off the Trump news which maybe is meant to suggest a change in his outlook. However, throughout the comic there is no dialogue from the average Joe character and no text commentary either - just excerpts from news reports and Trump's speeches - so it can sometimes be a little difficult to work out what's going on! On this page the protestor who helps the protagonist out is wearing an 'All lives matter' T Shirt. This slogan has since become associated with the right but from context we can assume that she is meant to be an anti-Trump protestor. I also have a later page (page 24) which was not published in this version of the comic but which may have been published in a different edition after Trump was elected. That page appears to show the average Joe character finally getting intimate with his wife concurrently with Trump being elected. I will upload that page here once I have found out more about it. Anyway - interesting stuff... I have shown the original art for page 22 side by side with the published page. The artist Nathan Webb both drew the page and added the digital colouring and effects. There is an interesting short article about the comic, written at the time of its release, here: https://www.salon.com/2016/11/08/this-comic-book-about-donald-trump-sums-up-a-white-voters-drive-to-the-gop-nominee-perfectly/ Social/Sharing |

I think they probably had pages ready to go for whoever won. The plot of history already reads like a comic book.
