Description

Dave Johnson B.P.R.D. 1948 #1 Cover artwork. I'm a huge fan of this book and all related Hellboy titles. This cover features Varvara, a favorite character of the comic.

Varvara was a young Russian girl and the illegitimate daughter of Grigori Rasputin. While under possession of the demon Yomyael she was the former director of the Special Sciences Service in Russia.

I had a blast talking to Dave at C2E2. I have owned many comics that he has done the cover for, and have always wanted to own a cover of his. Thrilled to make this my first.

Johnson is a great cover designer for our times! If this was the 70's, he'd be doing prelims for other artists like Marie Severin, Dave Cockrum, Gil Kane, and Ed Hannigan did.

It's so true! His work is just so iconic - you know it immediately.
