DescriptionI was doing a casual search on eBay for Soey Milk pieces when I found a piece that I was totally not expecting to find. I had checked out a painting by her and on a whim I decided to check the seller’s other listings and I couldn’t believe what I found. It was a drawing by Allison Reimold that I had loved ever since I first saw it way back in 2010 when I was just discovering Allison’s art and frequently checking her Reimold Effect blog for new art. Needless to say I quickly hit the Buy It Now and began waiting for it to arrive. To say I’m on cloud nine right now would be an understatement. It’s a piece that I’ve always loved from Allison’s early art and had long dreamed of owning but I never thought I would. You know how it is in collecting. You see a piece you love and then it disappears and you never know where it has gone or if you’ll ever see it again. You hope someday you have a second chance at it and thankfully I was given that second chance and she’s now found her forever home. I know this piece may not resonate with everyone but I absolutely adore it. This stunning piece was created back in June/July of 2010 for a series of drawings she called “Spectres”. They were “a little series of postcard-sized graphite drawings in varying degrees of eerie” that were available at Hold Up Art gallery in Little Tokyo. Most of the pieces must have sold during the show because I don’t recall ever seeing her share any being available. I’m sure this was one that was quickly snatched up at the show. I’ve always loved how beautifully stylized Allison’s art was in her earlier works. There’s just something so wonderfully bold about those pieces that always made them jump out to me. Without any context at all I would immediately know that was a piece by Allison and I did as soon as I saw that listing and couldn’t believe my eyes. Everything about this piece is just so hauntingly beautiful. The atmosphere she created with that swirling background is so haunting and otherworldly. Of course the main attraction is the beautiful Specter in her skull adornment. She’s absolutely captivating. I love how Allison rendered her. From the details on the horns of the skull to the tribal tattoos all of the shading is impeccable. Just a phenomenal piece that I’m absolutely thrilled I could add to my collection. No better feeling than finding those pieces that you’ve loved and wanted for so long. As part of the listing I also received a little 4x5” book that Allison sold at the show that included all of the drawings she created for the series. Size 5.5” x 7.5” Social/Sharing |

Great mix of dark surreal fantasy! The pencilwork ranges from sharp to soft that give shape and form to the figure and the background of the cosmos.
