Description

Illustrating Eando Binder's story in the December 1953 issue of Universe Science Fiction. Our groggy fellow is taken for a man of 1970, Buck Rogered into the year 2273 after being "space frozen" � but all is not as it seems.

It's a Ray Palmer pub and as usual seems to consist of stories that couldn't place elsewhere. This one isn't worth your time, but isn't the illo grand?

Wonderful illustration! The spectre of death still hangs around showing that something is amiss.

Bold yet delicate handling! I enjoy the way some SF illustrations from this period have a futuristic undercurrent (suggested by the partially visible window and architectural elements in the upper background I guess) combined with gothic/mystical imagery.
