Description
Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 Adaptation #8 Pg. 20
Art by Steven Cummings
Written by Rodney Barnes
Original episode of the TV series written by Jon Favreau

Moff Gideon holds Grogu captive. He also holds The Dark Saber.

Gideon, with The Dark Saber held over Grogu, explains to Mando why Bo-Katan wants it so badly, and the power it comes along with.

Mando DGAF, he just wants the kid.

This issue is based on Season 2, episode 8 of The Mandalorian titled "Chapter 16: The Rescue". The TV episode was written by Jon Favreau and directed by Peyton Reed. It had several key moments for Star Wars canon and the popular return of Luke Skywalker via digital de-aging and special effects as well as performances.

There's something very poetic and samurai feeling about the middle panel especially which I love about this page. One of the many climactic moments from the most talked about/hyped/viewed Star Wars TV episode ever!

Don't trade this for a Beskar shoulder plate, you'll regret it later.

So, what relation is there between the Mandalorian and Boba Fett? Does the show take place before or after Jedi? There must be a reason he looks just like Boba Fett but with a cape. Anyway, this cimmings guy does some really beautiful, fine lined pencil work. Really tight!

The show takes place roughly 5 to 6 years after Return Of The Jedi (ie, Boba is presumed dead, but returns in this show/season - not with his old armor at first, he's in Tusken Raider clothes on the previous page I posted). There are many characters that wear Mandalorian armor/suits made of Beskar, not just Boba - this show features a few of them like the main character (real name is Din Djarin but he's referred to as "The Mandalorian" before we find out his real name). There's no familial or other relation besides that they are both Mandalorian in heritage - those 2 characters meet for the first time during this show/season of TV

Thanks for the 411 Kavi, I appreciate it! By the way, are you saying that bald guy in panel 5 of the previous page you posted is a Tusken Raider? That doesn't look anything like the Tusken Raiders in the movies. I saw a Tusken Raider on one of Jeff's recent page postings and I was excited because I NEVER see those characters in Star Wars comics for some unknown reason. But it looked like a proper Tusken Raider. I don't see anyone on your three most recent page postings who look anything like one....

no problem. i was referring to their robes and staff/weapon - not how their face/maks are. heres a photo reference of the costume Boba "returned to live action" with - https://www.murphysmultiverse.com/boba-fett-return-mandalorian/

Boba is in the bottom left panel of the previous page i posted - without any sort of face covering (Mandalorian or Tusken Raider) - https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=2022964

Hey there, Gideon
Take a look at what you've done
You've broken my heart Grogu

You sold a hundred lies
To as many Boba guys
Oh lovely, Moff hateful Gideon

Someday, with dark saber
and your future has passed
You will find that your Disney
And Lucas fest won't last

Pencil traces of time
Show in every line
Remember I still love you
Gideon, pretty one, Gideon
