DescriptionAquatic Mush WomanArt by Noel Badges Pugh Ink and hi-flow acrylic on 11 x 15 watercolor paper Every once in awhile I'll find a piece that strays completely outside the bounds of comic art and pop culture. More in the vein of fine art or contemporary illustration art which I have a separate gallery folder for. This lovely colorful and ethereal piece comes from the artist Noel Badges Pugh. Noel is a scientific illustrator and artist based in San Francisco and Hawaii that specializes in flora and fauna as well as female figures among other subject materials/studies. Noel posts a ton of artwork, studies, prints, and projects to Instagram where the page has quickly built up a following of over 171,000 fans. I happened to catch this one about a year ago and was really into the image so I contacted Noel and bought the piece directly! Follow Noel here and look at some really interesting stuff if you want to venture outside of comic art for a few minutes @noelbadgespugh And this primarily acoustic cover version of a Pink Floyd classic by Alexa Melo seems a fitting musical background Social/Sharing |

When I first saw the thumbnail I wasn't sure what I was seeing as I was thinking in terms of comic books. What grabbed my attention is the harmony of the cool tones accentuated with the warm colors in various parts of the body to help move the eye aound the subject which gives an ethereal feel. So captivating!

There's an aquatic sound splashin’ water on ground
Woman in river and lake
And a permanent line warercolor in mind
Slippery and sly like a snake
With a tentacle Pugh kind of shifty and mush
A Noel has covered with light
Then a beam in the shade from a silvery blade
Has shattered the Badges tonight
I know seas waits below
Only to rise on command
When she comes for me
Sea’s got my life in her hands
