Gary Gianni - Solomon Kane

Every once in a while, you come across an artist that sets fire to a character, Frazetta to Conan, Kirby to Thor. This is what it felt like for me in seeing Gianni's work with REH projects, specifically the Savage Tales of Solomon Kane.

For some reason his work on Solomon Kane really resonated with me. I know I'm not the only one, heck even Randy Bowen composed a sculpture to one of his images. Pretty impressive!

I let one of his Solomon Kane images foolishly go by at a HA auction but then saw this come up in the very next auction. This one wasn't getting by!

This image is set in the story "Blades of the Brotherhood" or "The Blue Flame of Vengeance" Kane becomes involved in intrigues revolving around a hot-blooded youngster (Hollister) whose girlfriend is kidnapped by pirates. Hollister ends up battling their Captain, Banway, who is about to kill him when Kane steps in and comes to battle (shown here.)
