DescriptionPencilled by John Romita Jr. and inked by Scott Hanna. This page came from the series written by Rick Remender in 2013. The story takes place with Captain Anerica trapped by Armin Zola in Dimension Z. He escapes Zola's fortress while freeing an infant named Ian. This story details Zola's later abduction of Ian and an injured Cap in pursuit of retribution and again liberating his "son". Nice images of Cap throughout this page. JrJr's style works well with the gritty desolation of the Dimension Z environment. This comic had a very different look once the digital painting was added by Dean White. (See additional image.) I personally prefer the pencil and inks of the original. Although that should come as no surprise because inks are most often my preference. Appreciate fellow CAF collector Frederico Bettini making this available a couple years back. My son Greg (a fellow art admirer) and I had the privilege of meeting John Romita Jr. at HeroesCon 2024 where he signed the piece for us. A great gentleman as well as a great artist. I shared with JRJR my love for his father's work and how this page pairs perfectly with my Captain America #143 page in it's portfolio home. Social/Sharing |

JRJR's storytelling is second to none, and that includes this Cap run. Great gritty example, Lee, and nicely displayed in the portfolio next to Pops. Congrats, and was great catching up for a few minutes at Heroes!

Thanks Kavi!
I enjoy doing things as a facing spread with a theme. The labels I write just feel like a nice finishing touch.

Stunning pencils and inks for a Captain America page by John Romita Jr and Scott Hanna! Love the opening panels here with Cap trudging through a dismal wartorn battlefield in Dimension Z, where he has been trapped by Armin Zola in Dimension Z. Cap is wounded and you can see the pain he is in when he grips his chest. The look on his face as he studies Zola's fortress is weary and tired. I love Scott's inks over JrJr's pencils, they really convey the sense of frustration and futility Cap is feeling. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
