Tamara Stands Alone!

Cover features Tamara, captain of the Jolly Roger is a swordfight with Quenten who had captured her and attempted to mind control her. Now free of her mindblock, she battles for her freedom.

Starslayer was created by Mike Grell and first published at DC. After the DC 'implosion', Grell moved the comic to Pacific Comics and then to First Comics. Grell turned over the writing of the comic to John Ostrander who wrote this issue.
I was a big fan of Grell and followed his work on all his various titles including this one. This was an enjoyable series and this cover evoked serious nostalgia in me.
Besides the nostalgia factor, I do like the design of the cover with the characters in a sort of a deadly dance.

(Let's dance) and with sword make your best move
(Let's dance) I can match it cause I got nothing to lose
(Let's sway) while we fight face to face
(Let's sway) to this deadly dance in outer space

If I can run, I'll run away from you
And if I can hide, I will hide
Because my hatred for you, I would rather break you in two
If you should fall, I would run my sword through you

I did not recall the penciller Lenin Delsol and had to look him up. He was a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago and after a short career in comics, he started his own commercial art studio. He currently teaches art and exhibits his paintings at various galleries.

that IS a cool cover design!! Love the Patterson inking in the circular/space pattern surrounding the central figures. congrats!

I have to say it: Who the hell is Lenin Delsol?!? Wow, quite the gorgeous cover from someone nobody has ever heard of. So nice that you even had to include your own Weird Alization of Bowie's song!
