DescriptionPat Broderick brought his instantly recognizable cosmically detailed artistic style to Green Lantern with writer Gerald Jones during Hal Jordan’s post-Crisis reintroduction (it will always bug me that Hal was not in Crisis). I don’t remember much about these stories, but I picked this up because of the excellent vertical panel of Hal AND I wanted a post-crisis GL page prior to one of the worst DC editorial decisions in history - turning Hal Jordan into the evil Parallax. Every time I see Ron Marz at a convention, I want to yell MAAARRZZZ, like Kirk yelling at Kahn. This is page 24 from Green Lantern #21, February 1992 with inks by Romeo Tanghal. From a very nice run of Broderick and Tanghal artwork! I think their mandate from editorial was to shake things up like Superman dying. While it was a cinch Superman and Batman would regain their mantle, Green Lantern had a history of multiple characters patrolling the sector and they wanted some fresh blood in the role. It certainly had the intended short term effect. Short term being the operative term.

Good observation. While I am not a fan of some of Geoff Johns' work (stay out of live-action and Watchmen), he did a marvelous job of bringing back Hal Jordan and retconning away much of the silliness of the Parallax era.
