John Cassaday, Desperadoes

I first encountered the work of John Cassaday on Ghost. I was immediately struck by the quality of his lines. He had a beautiful style, which was uniquely his own. I made a point to follow his work wherever it appeared. This page is from his weird western tale, Desperadoes. He really captured the gritty feeling of the old west in this story. I followed him to his masterwork, Planetary. Along with Warren Ellis, he explored shadowy doppelgangers of the Pulp, Sci-Fi, Spy, Horror, and Comic characters I had grown up loving. Just an amazing series! I also loved his work on Union Jack, Captain America, X men, Star Wars, and other books he lent his talents to. It was a total shock to learn of his untimely passing. I will always enjoy the work that he left us, and am thankful to hold this early page featuring his work. My thoughts and condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed.
