DescriptionTonight I am posting the final four pages (pgs 7-10) of a back-up story the Nate Stockman drew for Superior Spider-Man (vol 3) #1. This story takes place back when Doc Ock was inhabiting Peter Parker's body and calling himself the Superior Spider-Man, and Spider-Boy hadn't been forgotten by everyone. This is my favorite page from the story. You get a half splash of Spider-Boy (who has been momentarily been turned evil by Mr Negative) and Superior Spider-Man. As Ock is about to strike Spider-Boy, Spider-Boy calls him 'Pops,' which makes Ock flash back to when he was physically abused by his father. This powerful memory stays his hand in the final panel. Very dramatic, and another example of how Marvel villains are multi-layered and often times can garner our sympathy. Social/Sharing |

The top half of the page is definitely Superior! I say you cut off the bottom half and frame the top!

Wow Doc Ock's dad was Kraven?!? Poor kid was definitely abused if they gave Otto that bowl haircut all his life! The layout on top is the best as the panel borders represent the Doc Ock tentacles!

Oh my gosh, I didn't make the connection between the panel borders and Doc Ock's tentacles! GREAT observation! But I did think that Ock's dad looked a lot like Kraven, which might explain some of the tension that always exists in the Sinister Six. Mixing family with work is always awkward & fraught.
