This illustration was drawn for the cover of the in story comic book, "Cosmic Shock" featured on page 6.

This is my official Halloween post in the terrifying form of a nine page, HP Lovecraft inspired horror story from Matt “I Want To Rock & Roll All Night” Allison.

The story “Lumière Noire” (Black Light) is featured in Métal Hurlant Volume 12 which is a tribute issue to early sci-fi/horror writer, HP Lovecraft. The issue is published en francais, but I have included the english version of each page in the additional images for your reading pleasure.

Thought that Matt properly captured the Lovecraft vibe in these pages, and that really speaks volumes by the time we get to the end of the story! We also see some new art elements at play here and they work incredibly well. As with everything that Matt does, you can see that so much time went into each and every single page. He even created a separate cover for the comic book being referenced in the story. The end result is packed full of signature Cankor style and a more than fitting tribute to one of the pioneers of horror.

Sidenote:The panel from page 3 was used for the back cover of the issue, and was also made into a t-shirt.

"Oddball" poppoed into my head :) Way to cover the offbeat story and crazy visuals as only Allison can bring. Huge congrats on the cover as well as the whole story, man, congrats!
