DescriptionThe newest release from Spugna is out and it is something else! I love Spugna's cartoon art style and he has to have one of the most wild imaginations out there. That directly appeals to me, and he has successfully built a world that made me laugh out loud by the end of it.Fat Rot Things is all about food and people and the entire book takes place in a diner. We get to see the inner workings, as well as the daily operations of the diner and I will leave it right there in regard to plot. This three panel sequence gives you a good look at the diner. We get some patrons of the restaurant, the owner serving meals directly, and then a quick glimpse of how the magic is made. One insanely creative thing that Spugna did with this book is include photocopy paste-ups of himself, other people, and not to mention textures of foods! As you can see in the page above, he draws the meal on the plate and then applies a meat paste-up to it! My mouth is watering already. The use of these paste-ups in the book create an otherworldly feel to things. Coupled with the original characters, visual storytelling, and setting, you realize you it is a different world, and one that I would definitely love to see more of. Big thanks to Tommaso and Gianni! I think people who've worked in fast food would have forgotten things would gross you out more than what we see here. Splorch is part of a complete breakfast.

Haha so true. I remember hearing a story about the chili at Wendy's from a guy who worked there in high school. I can't unsee it! Merry Splorchmas Marcus!

Meat paste-ups...now that's innovation! This has a real zany feel to it in a visually exciting way.
