DescriptionSo happy to have a page from Jack Kirby's 4th World. I am especially pleased that the guest on this book is Deadman as I am also a fan of that character. This issue and the previous issue were the only times Jack Kirby drew Deadman.The issue also progressed the Deadman story as the man with the hook shows up. In the original Strange Adventures story arc, it was established that a man with a hook was Boston Brand's killer. In this issue of Forever people though, the man with the hook is not the actual killer but is a member of the organization The Scavengers. He boldly states "Boston Brand must never know who shot him... and why!" Intriguing. Something else of interest in this issue is the fact that Deadman is drawn as corporeal instead of a spirit unseen by others or as possessing other people, which was always shown as a glow around those people. This is because he is inhabiting a synthetic being called the follower made in his image by the Forever People. I picked this page, as opposed to others that were available for a couple of reasons. The nice wide top panel which includes 3 of the Forever People in addition to Deadman (Big Bear, Vykin and Serafin). And the historically significant mention of the man with a hook. Plus it's a nice looking page with some action. Social/Sharing |
