Description
Blackest Night was the first crossover I picked up from the racks at a comic shop. It was the first time I experienced a comic event live and I must admit this book is quite nostalgic for me. It came at a perfect time in my life when I first started picking up comic books while being a diehard fan of the Zombie genre mainly through film. Blackest Night to me was a perfect amalgamation of zombies and superheroes and what blew me away was this was part of the main continuity of DC comics at the time. I remember being so shocked by the slaying and brutality of several main DC characters throughout the story. Although now knowing death in comics can be quite meaningless I still remember how this story excited me through these shocking moments. The Geoff Johns run of Green Lantern has been one of my most favorite modern comic runs; and Blackest Night I considered the peak of it. With that said I’ve longed for a decent page from the series for quite some time. I finally found this piece during CAF Live this year and knew this was what I wanted; A double page spread full of black lanterns and features the Flash who I became a fan of after reading his characterization during this epic event.

Shocking double page splash!  Blackest Night was a sprawling epic and this dps is emblematic of what the heroes had to face in this saga.

I too was really blown away when I read this. Like yourself, I was into zombies and was telling everyone I knew to read The Walking Dead. When I read this and saw them mixing the horror genre with superheroes, especially with the excellent artwork throughout the story, I was hooked. Landing this DPS is the coup de grace! Merry Christmas, Dave!

Oh man, prime example from a great series!  The undead have arisen, and are closing in!  Images like this are what the DPS was made for.  Congrats!

Wow! What a scary cool Double Page spread! It really brings to life what it must have been like for the Flash to turn around and face all these zombified characters coming after you! Amazing piece of art with all the different characters that have been turned into zombies. Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert did an amazing job with this DPS. It's not easy to balance a scene with so many characters and make it believable. Ivan and Oclair did a great job with this splash and the whole series. Glad to see a coillector who appreciates it, got it. Absolutely stunnning pick-up, congrats!

Reis and Albert really conveyed quite effectively the creepiness that should be inherent in a scene where multiple superheroes and villains return from the dead to cause chaos.  In the hands of other artists, this scene could have come across looking silly.  There's nothing silly looking here.

Thank you, I enjoyed reading your insightful comment! Totally agree with how the artist tapped into the creepiness of this scene.
