DescriptionThe first Marvel series with a supervillain as the lead protagonist. Although the stories and art were excellent, this feature only lasted eight issues. My guess is readers' never got comfortable with rooting for a bad guy even though Doom's adversaries were often worse.A fine p.1 splash by Wood known for his unique style which made him instantly recognizable to readers. That's a pretty baller page to throw down at year's end! I bought this run off the racks at nine years old, and I still remember the specialness of it. Wood's particular imagination put the series at a slight angle to the main MU, which seemed apt for a series about a villain.

An all Wood page! He seemed to have a nack for drawing castles. I wonder how the Vandal Savage pages from All-Star comics compare. Great pickup and page.
