DescriptionThe Transformers Comics Magazine aka Digest #9 was the second Digest I ever had of the Transformers as a kid. This reprinted #17-18 of the ongoing Transformers series at Marvel. The End page from #18 features Blaster just as he defeats Straxus. Blaster and his crew (Powerglide, Beachcomber, Warpath, Cosmos, Perceptor and Sea-Spray) then cross the Space Bridge from Cybertron to Earth. Social/Sharing |

The best of both worlds with Cybertron / cybertronian designs and the Earth / earthbound character designs.

I love final pages and this one captures both a sense of triumph and transition. Seeing such a nice mix of Autobots cross the Space Bridge to Earth is a really fun moment. I still love this era of artwork on this series, as the clear and clean storytelling offers the perfect blend of action and Science Fiction.

I love this page and still recall the first time I read this issue when it was brand new. My brother was collecting the monthly Transformers title at the time, which meant I didn't need to buy it since I could read his copies. This issue stuck out at me because it presented the new characters so differently from their simply showing up out of nowhere in the cartoon series. I really enjoyed how they were introduced here, and for reasons I still can't fully articulate, the final panel with the Autobots arriving on Earth really hit nine year-old me (in a good way).
