DescriptionThis is from one of the first comics I ever owned. I was largely lost on who many of the characters were in the annual, except for the ones I recognized from Super Friends cartoon. So when I started collecting art I thought it would be awesome to own at least one page from this issue. Problem was in searching on CAF there were only a few listed and most of those were with people that had not been active in many years. While watching dueling dealers one night Anthony put this one up and I thought, "Here's my chance!" However while I was deciding on what to offer for the page, if I wanted this particular page as my example, etc. the page was bought. I thought well it must not have been meant to be. So imagine my surprise to see it on comiclink. Surpise in the sense that comiclink has no great save/recomend features so I actually thought to put it in the search terms. Secondly, it was on comiclink so the best one if I was going to score a deal. As you can see I won so the rest, as they say, is history. This page is packed with Hawkman and Hawkwoman, Firestorm, and atom as they try to stop DR. Destiny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahbJBcdq0EM Social/Sharing |

Comiclink is the best at getting bargains! I like how Hoberg has the new hero in Firestorm interact with old silver age heroes like Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and The Atom in such a casual manner with no one pulling rank.

It sounds like this page holds a special place in your heart, not just because it’s from a cherished comic but also because it connects to your early days as a collector. The fact that this particular page was part of your initial journey into comic collecting gives it an extra layer of significance, almost like a piece of your personal collecting history. It’s awesome how a combination of nostalgia and the hunt for something meaningful turned into a successful find, especially considering how tricky it can be to find specific pages from older comics.
I love how the story unfolded, too. Waiting for the right moment and then feeling that initial disappointment when it was snatched up, only for the universe to bring it back to you in an unexpected way through ComicLink, my favourite auction house to buy art from!

Congratulations on this page - love that you got it when it was that meaningful. (I also missed out on this one when Anthony had it on!).

very cool page made even better due to your personal connection to it! sometimes things just have a way of working out, and my guess is you got a better deal for it @ CL than you would have with Anthony. congrats!

Did you own this issue before the premiere of the Legendary Super Powers Show that introduced Firestorm to Saturday Morning cartoon audiences? Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't remember but probably so since it came off the newstand. However growing up the only time that I remember watching superfriends was at my great grandparents house because they had satellite. Where I lived I was lucky to get channel 3 and 12 (NBC and CBS). ABC was hit or miss.
