DescriptionTalk about deja vu! In the ComicLink auction where I won my first George Perez piece (a spectacular Dream Girl illustration), there were seven other Legion pieces, including a Saturn Girl that I might have gone for if I'd had a bigger budget. Fast forward two years, and that same Saturn Girl showed up at CLink again! I know better than to waffle on a second chance, and I wound up winning this for about half of what I paid for the other one!I was already amazed I'd managed to pick up even one Perez piece, so having two feels pretty monumental! From what I've seen on CAF, I feel like convention-style pieces by George fall into two categories: ones with fewer lines and a smoother feel, and ones with a plethora of lines and an intricate feel. While my Dream Girl piece is the former, this Saturn Girl definitely falls into the latter category, and I love being able to compare the two, and how they're both still undeniably Perez-y. And George poured SO much detail into this one, it's just incredible! I love all the linework done for Imra's hair, and how her bright smile could never be mistaken for anyone's work but George's. The beautiful background is just the icing on the cake - I love how George rendered Saturn's rings with dots to complement all the stars in the spacescape. Social/Sharing |

What a beautiful piece! Many congrats, Margaret. In this hobby, second chances do arise from time to time and I am so happy for you that it did on this particular occasion.

Saturn Girl's the heart and soul of the Legion! Perez knows she's the leader and does a doozy drawing with the tight details you'd expect. This great portrait is made to be seen and be an inspiration to Legion fans.

You said it, Marcus! George makes her shine with the bright optimism that any good Legion leader should have.
