Newton's mastery of chiaroscuro and dramatic composition is already on full display here. It blows my mind that he wasn't already drawing monthly comics at this point in his life. Even before breaking into the professional comics world, his storytelling instincts were razor-sharp. The heavy shadows and intricate textures give it that pulpy, almost EC Comics feel, but with a cinematic depth that really draws the eye. Great stuff.
