Description
Among the many highlights of IC3 was getting to meet Sean from Athenaeum Comic Art. None of the artists Sean represents were in attendance; he was flying solo, which afforded us a fair amount of time to chat about art, comics, movies, and other interests we seemed to have in common.

While chatting with Sean I flipped through the portfolios he had with him featuring an array of work from the his stable of artists. When I reached this page from 'The Stranger' I had to stop and take a closer look. The delicate linework which, in my mind, was reminiscent of the work of P. Craig Russell, really struck me. I implored Sean to tell me about the artist and what this page was from.

'The Stranger' is a comic by Rosemary Valero-O'Connell in partnership and distributed by the Ann Arbor District Library for A2CAF in 2023. It is a poignant story about the loss of a loved one as well as the memories of that person.

Rosemary's art can be purchased at: https://www.athenaeumcomicart.com/

Okay, two things I have to mention about this. First, the second I laid eyes on it, I thought "Ah, this is very P. Craig Russell-esque!"

Second, if this comic is distributed by the District Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan, then GO BLUE, baby!

Hits hard if you've ever suffered a loss of a loved one.  The most intense memories and the biggest regrets will fill the the thoughts of your everyday routine.

That's lovely! I also thought P. Craig Russel (specifically some of the Elric and Dr. Strange he did) as soon as I saw the thumbnail!

lovely composition and panel design/layout. much like you and others who mentioned instantly reminds of PCR. Went to go look at the other pages on the site too, beautiful stuff (and all sold out!)

Sean only had this page and one other at IC3, but I didn't buy this at the show as I had already run through my budget. A week or two later, he posted on Insagram that this was the last page he had available and FOMO kicked in hard lol.
