Two-Gun Kid (Tradd Moore)

Lot of anime influence in this piece!  It's unlike any of the art he's done before showing Tradd's current mindset and level of artistry.  Who knows?  Maybe Moore would be spurred on by this commission and take aim at revitalizing the western genre next.

Tradd goes crazy with geometric angles waist up.  At first I missed the face,  the floating holster virtually resembles a gun floating in space.  The holster and shirt move your eye through the picture.  Tradd demonstrates his imagination has no bounds.

I totally agree with you that Tradd has perspectives that go well beyond the conventional - which explains why he did such an amazing job with both SSB and Dr Strange (both of which were ideally suited to his immense imaginative talents).

This has to be the most fascinating and uniquely bizarre rendition of the Two-Gun Kid ever illustrated by anyone!

Cowboy...classic amaricana.  But this has such an anime taste to!  Keeping the Tradd curves to the body and so many pointy parts we don't usually see from Tradd.  I love it!

I'm always amazed when an artist can visualize something so unique, then communicate through pen and ink. What a fantastic commission! I also love the way he put his sig in the background with some of the art covering it...like he signed it first then drew (although I understand that's not what really happened lol).

Many thanks, CIB! As mentioned, his take on the character is so unique that it cannot really be compared with other similar pieces in this particular gallery. Tradd's style is really all his own and I'm so glad I managed to request this from him.

I have to second Marcus' observation about this piece having an almost anime feel/quality to it. If it wasn't for the darker color pallette this would've fit right into Cowboy Bebop or other late 90s or early 2000s animes. Not sure what the current publishing status of Two-Gun Kid as I feel like it's been awhile since any new series has been made, but if they ever bring it back around this would make for one amazing variant cover or something. Congrats on the great commission result, it's TRADD to the MAX!

Many thanks, Kavi. Yes, there is an anime feel to it. Unfortunately, the TKG has literally gone west and I can confidently say that there is zero chance that the series will be revived. But commissions such as this help make up for the disappointment.

I was wondering whether it was the character that prompted him to evolve his style or whether this is part of a broader evolution that we'll see in his later work.

Wow this is quite an awesome stylized piece! It has a lot of energy and I def see a manga-esque inspiration. I love the grey tones added as well and funny enough opposite of kinetic but the fabric such as the cape and shirt has an almost woodlike carving form to it like something from a Mignola piece haha. This is super awesome and fantastic CAB! Congrats on another great addition to your collection.
