Description

Each of the seven arcs in Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers story had its own distinct theme. This one was about objectification and exploitation. In the first issue, Bulleteer's husband was having a virtual affair with internet chat room vixen Sally Sonic. This issue reveals Sally's backstory as a super-powered eternal teenager entrapped in the seedy underbelly of London's porn scene. On this flashback page, Sally reluctantly agrees when her boyfriend Dennis wants to pimp her out to a photographer for "a few very tasteful shots."

One of the first sketches I ever commissioned was a Bulleteer piece from Yanick Paquette in tribute to his work on this series.

The things we do for love!  Deep inside she knows he's manipulating her.  I feel they could have gone out to get some endorsements or corporate sponsorship.

Paquette's art works well to showcase the complex emotions of someone in a tough situation, she's either letting him down or letting down herself.
