DescriptionI freaking love this!!Picked up at the Lawless Comic Convention in Bristol - a beautiful pencil rendition of bashful Benjamin, absolutely jumped out at me in Alan's portfolio of sketches. Davis draws the Thing with so much heart and character. This shows both his epic stoicism and his eternal sadness - and the iconic trenchcoat and stoogie just make it even better. I was chatting to Alan about how much I love the way he draws Ben Grimm and he said that after he'd finished The End, he realised that he'd been drawing his Dad when he drew the Thing. Really, really got me in the feels, and explains so much regarding the sheer quality and personality he invests in capturing this fantastical but very grounded figure. Also had a go at scanning the pencils and adding my inks digitally with my trusty ipad Pro! Social/Sharing |

A great Thing with bags of personality! Alan's convention sketches are a " Thing" of beauty. It's always narrowing it down- which is hard when he nails every character.

Absolutely! So many spot-on characters in that sketch folio - but at the end of the day, the most important art is the art that connects with the viewer. This one really got me.
Looking forward to seeing your stunning Batman/Joker piece up!
